Second Week Rules for the Discernment of Spirits

St. Ignatius of Loyola composed a second set of rules for discernment aimed at those who are already striving to grow in holiness. In this series, Fr. Timothy Gallagher unpacks these Second Week Rules, showing how they apply to real-life situations where choices are not between good and evil, but between two apparent goods.

Listeners will learn how to recognize the subtle tactics of the enemy, such as false consolations and disguised temptations, and how to seek confirmation of God’s authentic movements in the heart. With clarity and pastoral warmth, Fr. Gallagher explains how to move forward in peace, relying on God’s grace and the wisdom of the Ignatian tradition.

This series is an essential resource for Catholics discerning vocations, major life decisions, or simply striving for a deeper intimacy with Christ. Available freely through Discerning Hearts Catholic Podcasts, it continues Fr. Gallagher’s mission of making Ignatian spirituality accessible to all who desire to hear and follow God’s voice.
