In this episode, Fr. Maurtius is joined by his fellow Missionary Benedictines, Sr. Fidelis Marie Lanowich Benedictinesand Sr. Gabriel Mary Oestreich of the Immaculata Monastery, Norfolk, NE and Br. Damian Cayetano of Christ the King Priory, Schuyler, NE. The group discusses what drew them to the Holy Rule of St. Benedict. They share their response to the Holy Rule and it’s guidance for their lives.  The subject is obedience and balance is part of the conversation, as well as the importance of community.

Father Mauritius Wilde, OSB, Ph.D., did his philosophical, theological and doctoral studies in Europe. He is the author of several books and directs retreats regularly. He serves as Prior of our monastery in Schuyler.

HR36 – Dealing with Anger – The Holy Rule of St. Benedict with Fr. Mauritius Wilde O.S.B

The difference between sacred anger and destructive anger.

  1. Become aware of your anger – identify the emotions which fuel the anger (i.e. sadness, fear, hurt, bitterness, etc.)
  2. Accept it and take it to prayer
  3. Take a deep breath
  4. Pray for meekness and mercy

HR37 – Listening to the Word of God – The Holy Rule of St. Benedict with Fr. Mauritius Wilde O.S.B

The importance of immersing oneself in the Word of God.  The right place for Sacred reading is while we are involved in the world, as opposed to deligating it only to times of seclusion. To encounter the Word we are called to also encounter the World as Christ did.
