Uniting our suffering with Christ – Daily Spiritual Counsel Through This Time of Pandemic – Msgr. John Esseff Podcast

Msgr. Esseff reflects on how we can deepen our personal prayer by uniting our suffering, whatever it may be, with Christ on the Cross.

Psalm 130

1 A song of ascents.

I

Out of the depths* I call to you, LORD;

Lord, hear my cry!

May your ears be attentive

to my cry for mercy.a

If you, LORD, keep account of sins,

Lord, who can stand?b

But with you is forgiveness

and so you are revered.*

II

I wait for the LORD,

my soul waits

and I hope for his word.c

My soul looks for the Lord

more than sentinels for daybreak.d

More than sentinels for daybreak,

7l et Israel hope in the LORD,

For with the LORD is mercy,

with him is plenteous redemption,e

And he will redeem Israel

from all its sins.f

  1. Priceless. Thank you Kris and Msgr. Esseff for preserving these podcasts from such a unique moment in our global history. Amazing to reflect on joining in the redemptive nature of suffering that we inevitably face as those baptized in Christ and to revisit this almost a year later. This remains perfectly relevant in our spiritual lives…
