DOS#8 The Sixth Rule – Discernment of Spirits w/ Fr. Timothy Gallagher

Episode 8 -The Sixth Rule:

Although in desolation we ought not to change our first resolutions, it is very helpful intensely to change ourselves against the same desolation, as by insisting more on prayer, meditation, on much examination, and by giving ourselves more scope in some suitable way of doing penance.

  1. Father Gallagher’s ministry has totally revolutionized my experience of the Catholic Christian faith. Yours truly is a convert who’ll be celebrating 20 years in full communion this coming Easter Vigil (received during Easter Vigil 1998).

Very difficult to put into words the experience Father has brought my way. “Setting the Captives Free” is a beautiful start. No more captivity to my own affective emotions. No more “three steps forward, two steps back”. Able to make progress every day. Saint Ignatius really has contributed more to my life in the past two + years than my entire experience of growing in grace the previous 18 years. GODSPEED DISCERNING HEARTS, and Thank You Father Gallagher.

  2. Thank You Kris and Fr. Gallagher for a great and edifying explaining of difference between Dark Nights of The Soul and Desolation. I reccomended it highly to all fellow Catholics down here in SA. It was pointed out that Ignatian Method of Self Examination is not always presented by Priests to Parishes and Priests do not do self examen. The result is loss of Contemplation with diversion of the fruits of Prayer Life. Indeed it is doubtful if Dark Nights of The Soul can be cultural- first Sanctity of the soul and then structure. Only with Hearts that are fully conformed and transformed in Christ Jesus can we then redeem the world.

Many thanks for the prayeful meditation and exhortations. They are fruits of prayer and prayers without ceasing.

God Bless Your Soul Kris and Fr. Gallagher.
    I love you lots
